IMPAC's single-database EMR manages information related to scheduling, billing, laboratory information systems, clinical charting for assessments, encounters, chemotherapy regimens, automated drug calculations, computerized physician order entry, and real-time data visualization to support the unique oncology workflow. Lynx Mobile, developed by OTN, is an automated charge capture, inventory management and reporting tool specifically designed for community-based clinic staff to efficiently manage inventory of drugs and supplies while improving the management of clinical practice revenue. The interface of IMPAC's and OTN's powerful oncology workflow management systems helps clinicians and cancer teams significantly enhance workflow efficiency and patient experience.
Specifically, Hinsdale Hematology Oncology Associates, Ltd. (HHOA), a Hinsdale, IL six-physician practice that provides services to 80-100 patients a day, has seen increasing patient loads since installing IMPAC in 2001. HHOA's investment in IMPAC allowed the clinic to transfer paper charts to IMPAC's single-database EMR. Moving to the EMR enabled HHOA to increase the speed and accuracy of the patient encounter, and enhance patient documentation. As a result, HHOA enjoyed improvements in patient and clinician satisfaction, patient load increases, and an elevated level of process efficiency that essentially returned the EMR investment within two years of implementation.
"The IMPAC EMR interfaced to the Lynx Mobile is convenient, easy to use, and closely matches the workflow in our practice. It allows us to capture lost charges on the system and gain data and information to help run our practice," said Michele K. White, practice administrator and operations manager for HHOA. "We have found that the IMPAC and Lynx Mobile interface is vastly better than our previous interface. Now that we have IMPAC's oncology IT solution and OTN's interface in place, patient information is automatically transferred between IMPAC and Lynx Mobile. This automatic updating of our IMPAC EMR saves time by eliminating manual re-entry of patient data and patient charges."
"Our oncology customers are signing up to use Lynx Mobile because of its ability to help them decrease lost charges and manage inventory in a way that allows clinics to run as efficiently as possible," said Gena Cook, vice president of sales and marketing for OTN. "This is a testament to the technological advance that Lynx Mobile represents and further illustrates how OTN differentiates itself from other distributors in the marketplace. We believe Lynx Mobile's intuitive user interface and accessibility anywhere in the clinic changes the way community-based infusion clinics manage their patient care and work flow. With Lynx Mobile, practices have more time to focus on delivering optimal patient care."
"IMPAC is pleased to have the opportunity to continue our work as OTN's preferred oncology EMR vendor," states Barbara Robbins, Director, IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., Medical Oncology Business Unit. "This interface facilitates the exchange of information between the IMPAC single database EMR and practice management system to Lynx Mobile, which can further enhance oncology workflow efficiency and accuracy."
Demonstrations and full details about the IMPAC oncology-specific IT solution and the interface to the OTN Lynx Mobile will be available at the AOHA Conference in Austin, TX, Booth # 18, April 15 - 17, 2007.
