Indianapolis Star -- Indianapolis -- Eli Lilly and Co. plans to cut 170 manufacturing and quality-control jobs this year, most of them in Indianapolis, as part of its ongoing downsizing efforts. The drug maker said Monday the cuts will come through a combination of layoffs and voluntary departures. Lilly will offer voluntary terminations to 950 of about 3,600 U.S. manufacturing employees. Voluntary departures could open jobs for those placed on layoffs.
