DNAnexus Appoints David Fenstermacher as Vice President of Precision Medicine and Data Sciences

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DNAnexus, Inc., the leader in biomedical informatics and data management, today announced the appointment of David Fenstermacher, PhD, as Vice President of Precision Medicine and Data Services. Dr. Fenstermacher will be responsible for overseeing the company’s data management solutions for precision health and drug discovery applications at leading cancer centers, academic institutions, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Fenstermacher brings more than 30 years of research experience as a molecular biologist and bioinformatician. During his career, he has designed and directed the implementation of numerous biomedical informatics distributed computing systems to support basic, translational, and clinical research, including multi-institution research projects. He has also designed data warehouses that integrate patient-level clinical data and other ’omics data to support studies focused on cancer and other human diseases.

Prior to joining DNAnexus, Dr. Fenstermacher was the Vice President of R&D Bioinformatics at MedImmune. He also served as the Chief Research Information Officer for Virginia Commonwealth University and was Founding Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Fenstermacher received his Bachelor of Science from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and his PhD in molecular biology and genetics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
