MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vital Images, Inc. , a leading provider of enterprise-wide advanced visualization and analysis solutions, today announced that the company's Vitrea(R) cardiovascular software was prominently showcased at the 8th Annual New Cardiovascular Horizons Conference (NCVH) in New Orleans. The conference was presented by the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and focused primarily on the management, treatment, and evaluation of peripheral vascular disease (PAD) and coronary artery disease (CAD).
The conference featured live broadcasts of interventional vascular cases using computed tomography (CT) imaging with Vitrea software. "CT imaging is now the most important diagnostic tool, and is just as important a treatment tool in our 'PAD' toolbox as any of our new devices. We routinely use Vitrea software with each CT exam to help predict, diagnose, plan and treat each patient," said David E. Allie, MD, NCVH Conference Co-chairman and Director of Cardiothoracic and Endovascular Surgery, at CIS in Lafayette, LA. "This is a revolution in vascular care and a major paradigm shift that is advancing the standard of patient care."
Craig M. Walker, MD, Co-chairman, Founder and Medical Director of CIS, performed many of the difficult cases transmitted live to the audience and started each case by evaluating the patient's anatomy using CT images from Vitrea.
NCVH, which began in 2000 as a small, regional cardiovascular, podiatry and wound care meeting, is now the fourth largest cardiovascular conference in the nation. Presented by CIS, a south Louisiana group of cardiovascular physicians, the conference has become the first and largest multidisciplinary conference in the country. The four-day conference attracts thousands of medical professionals worldwide to discuss the latest advancements in peripheral vascular treatment, coronary artery treatment, limb salvage, podiatry, and wound care.
"It's rewarding to know that our product solution plays such an important role in diagnostic imaging and treatment planning for the physicians at CIS," said Jay D. Miller, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vital Images. "We are very happy to be part of this outstanding leading edge educational conference."
