Kindbody Names Former Exhale Leaders Annbeth Eschbach as President and Debbie Markowitz as Chief Financial Officer

Fast-growing women’s health care start-up, Kindbody, today announced that Annbeth Eschbach has joined as President and Debbie Markowitz as Chief Financial Officer.

NEW YORK, May 2, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Fast-growing women’s health care start-up, Kindbody, today announced that Annbeth Eschbach has joined as President and Debbie Markowitz as Chief Financial Officer. The New York-based femtech company is reinventing women’s health care through brick-and-mortar and mobile clinics, starting with fertility care and expanding into mental health, nutrition, and gynecological services.

The duo has worked together previously at the leading wellbeing and fitness brand, Exhale Spa, which Eschbach founded in 2003 and served as Chief Executive Officer until its sell to Hyatt Hotels in 2017. Markowitz most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of leading direct-to-consumer fintech company Acorns and has worked with Eschbach previously in the same role to help scale Exhale to 25 locations in 11 markets.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Kindbody team to reinvent fertility care. Gina Bartasi’s vision, business model, and team is world class. The core of Kindbody’s mission has touched me personally and I believe from personal experience that women’s healthcare and fertility is ripe for disruption,” commented Eschbach. Adding, “Kindbody is going to change the way women’s healthcare is delivered, and I want to be part of that. My responsibilities are many, but growing the business comes first and makes me excited to get up in the morning!”

Markowitz has 20 years of experience providing visionary and pragmatic leadership to drive financial excellence at Acorns, Exhale, and Equinox. “Kindbody’s mission is both inspiring and critical. I’m proud to join a team dedicated to radically improving and modernizing women’s healthcare. I look forward to leveraging my experience in scaling businesses to support our rapid growth plans, enabling us to touch as many women as possible.”

This announcement adds to Kindbody’s recent growth announcements including its $15M Series A and that it will be providing a full service women’s health and fertility solution directly to employers, both announced last month. Eschbach and Markowitz join a leadership team which includes healthcare entrepreneur, Founder/CEO Gina Bartasi, Chief Medical Officer (REI) Dr. Lynn Westphal from Stanford University School of Medicine, Co-Founder and Head of Product Joanne Schneider from Flatiron and Google, Founding Physician Dr. Fahimeh Sasan from Mount Sinai, and SVP of Business and Legal Affairs Shilpa Patel from Quartet and Oscar.

“I’m honored to work with this dynamic duo. They have a proven track record of scaling a company from the ground up. They’re skilled problem solvers, fast learners and entrepreneurs at heart; and most importantly, they believe in our mission and values - to be kind and serve kindness,” said Kindbody Founder/CEO Gina Bartasi. “The early support for this brand has been overwhelming so we’re grateful to have this depth in bench strength.”

Launched in August 2018, Kindbody has already seen hundreds of women in three markets including New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco through brick-and-mortar and mobile units, with additional locations opening soon. Upcoming locations are predominantly retail-level including its Manhattan flagship location at 102 Fifth Avenue scheduled to open this summer. In addition to convenience and a modern patient experience, the company’s mission is to increase accessibility by making fertility treatment more affordable and transparent.
