- Contract Extended One Year -

LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Instrumentation Laboratory (IL) today announced that MedAssets Supply Chain Systems has extended its contract to offer IL's critical care portfolio through July 2010. This continues a successful history between the two companies, whose original contract was established in 2002.

The contract covers IL's portfolio of critical care analyzers, reagents, consumables and service, including IL's flagship product, the GEM Premier 4000 analyzer for blood gas, electrolyte and metabolite and integrated CO-Oximetry testing. This analyzer features IL's patented Intelligent Quality Management (iQM), a real-time, automated, quality assurance system that continuously detects, corrects and documents, to assure quality results and compliance, 24/7, regardless of operator or testing location. iQM, coupled with its cartridge-based technology and ease of use, allows the GEM Premier 4000 provide consistent, accurate, lab-quality results throughout the hospital. GEMweb Plus software enables remote access to any networked analyzer for real-time status updates and supervision of remote locations.

In addition to the GEM Premier 4000, IL's contract with MedAssets includes the GEM Premier 3000 critical care analyzer, GEM OPL a portable CO-Oximeter, IL 682 CO-Oximeter. The contract also includes GEMweb Plus data management system and GEMweb software, for remote management of the GEM analyzers.

"We have chosen to extend our relationship with Instrumentation Laboratory so our hospital customers and patients can continue to benefit from their high quality critical care technology. In addition, IL's products offer significant cost-efficiencies to our customers," said Mary Ellen Kimmeth, Senior Vice President, Capital and Laboratory Services, MedAssets Supply Chain Systems.
