Sign On San Diego -- Dr. Jack Copeland, a noted cardiac surgeon who helped pioneer the use of artificial hearts in the 1980s, has joined UCSD Medical Center, where he will help relaunch a heart transplant program that was shut down in 2007 because of low volume.
