BioElectronics Corporation Elects New Chairman

FREDERICK, MD--(Marketwire - July 07, 2009) -

BioElectronics Corp. (PINKSHEETS: BIEL), the maker of inexpensive, disposable drug-free anti-inflammatory devices, today announced that its board of directors has unanimously elected a new chairman, Dr. Richard Staelin, a Duke University Professor and long-time BioElectronics board member. Dr. Staelin is the Edward and Rose Donnell Professor of Business Administration at The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.

"We are pleased at this critical inflection point in Bioelectronics' business development that we are able to engage a leader with Dr. Staelin's superb marketing and business acumen to lead our board of directions," said Andrew J. Whelan, Bioelectronics' CEO. "Now that our products are developed and approved by multiple health authorities around the world, we are poised to drive growth in world-wide markets."

Dr. Staelin has written more than 80 articles on a range of marketing and technology issues including consumer protection regulation and its impact on consumer behavior, channel management, marketing strategy and service quality especially in hospitals.

Much of Dr. Staelin's consulting activity has been for the Federal Government (the FDA and the FTC), or as an expert witness in antitrust cases concerned with disputes between manufacturers and dealers. Professor Staelin also has worked with Adtel (a division of Burke Marketing), developing new ways to measure the effects of advertising and couponing on purchase behavior. He is also the current president of the INFORMS Society of Marketing Scientists.

"I believe BioElectronics has successfully established a beachhead in the introduction of its new class of devices that not only relieve pain, but also help heal the cells that are the root cause of this pain," Staelin said. "These wearable PEMF devices provide localized pain relief without drugs at a fraction of the cost of hospital-administered treatments."

Staelin has been on the BioElectronics board for three years and has served as the head of the Audit committee.
