Roger W. Anderson, Dr.P.H. Named Chief Pharmacy Officer for US Oncology, Inc.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- US Oncology, Inc. today announced that Roger W. Anderson, Dr.P.H. has been named Chief Pharmacy Officer for the nationwide company dedicated to advancing cancer care in America. Dr. Anderson will oversee Pharmacy services for US Oncology and its affiliated practices. He will work directly with the medical directors, Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) leadership, and pharmacist leaders to implement high quality, fiscally sound clinical and operational pharmacy programs in US Oncology affiliated practices. Dr. Anderson will also represent US Oncology network interests and the pharmacy program in public policy initiatives, industry associations and within the healthcare industry overall.

Dr. Anderson served as senior vice president and chief pharmacist with Medco Health Solutions from 2004 to 2008. Prior, he served 26 years as vice president of Pharmacy at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He received his undergraduate pharmacy degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. and obtained a masters of science in Hospital Pharmacy from The Ohio State University. He completed an accredited residency in Hospital Pharmacy at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and earned a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Texas.

Dr. Anderson has been active with many professional organizations throughout his career serving as president of the Central Ohio Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the Ohio Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. He has received distinguished alumnus awards from both Ferris State University and The Ohio State University. In 1988, he received the Clifton J. Latiolais Award from The Ohio State University, and in 1992, he received the Harvey A.K. Whitney Award (ASHP's highest award). Dr. Anderson has authored over 60 publications in the field of health-system pharmacy. His research interests include the safe handling of antineoplastic agents, drug delivery technology, drug use management, medication safety, and outcomes research.
