ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- PharmAnalysis Group, Inc. names Karen Marlo Director of Information Services and Liz Allan Director of Communications.
As Director of Information Services, Ms. Marlo oversees the development of PharmAnalysis’ informatics tools and databases. Karen has been a key member of the reimbursement team at PharmAnalysis since 2001, focusing on strategic issues relating to reimbursement of pharmaceuticals, biologics and medical devices. Karen’s work includes devising payment strategies, payer education plans and payer advocacy campaigns.
Prior to joining PharmAnalysis, Karen was a senior research associate at Charles River Associates focusing on economic issues in the pharmaceutical industry, including effective pricing of new entrants into the market and contracting with insurers to guarantee formulary access. She worked extensively on successful contracting strategies between pharmaceutical manufacturers and managed care organizations.
Earlier, Karen was a consultant to the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, designing a person-level database of drug utilization by Medicaid recipients with AIDS, used in a study examining the impact of recent protease inhibitors on cost, service utilization, and survival of AIDS patients. In addition, she was a consultant at Engquist, Pelrine & Powell, assisting in the development of a hospital DRG reimbursement methodology for the State of Georgia’s Medicaid program. Ms. Marlo has also been a researcher at the Urban Institute, studying the economic and health characteristics of certain segments of the population, specifically the uninsured, pregnant women, and those in poverty; also analyzing Medicaid spending and enrollment trends.
Ms. Marlo holds a BA in Economics from Georgetown University and a MPP in Health Services Research and Policy from Georgetown University Public Policy Institute.
As Director of Communications, Ms. Allan brings years of experience in marketing communications and advertising within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. Ms. Allan provides full-service communications support for PharmAnalysis’ clients, from creative direction to full program implementation. PharmAnalysis’ communications team works in conjunction with their strategic reimbursement and research staff to design tools/programs to solve clients’ diverse needs. Projects include: formulary kits, payer monographs, reimbursement tool kits, program brochures, launch materials, reimbursement sales training programs, advisory boards, reimbursement workshops and website design.
Ms. Allan has a strong history of product launches including the management of the product marketing business such as brand positioning, relationship marketing and patient compliance programs, reimbursement support and patient assistance programs, physician and payer communications and health/product websites. Prior to this, Ms. Allan was Director of Marketing, Galt Associates, Inc., a drug safety software/consulting firm and Account Supervisor at RTCdirect, a marketing consulting agency specializing in consumer relationship marketing. Earlier in her career, she managed the operations of PAREXEL’s Medical Marketing Communications Department including a staff of designers, copywriters and production experts.
Ms. Allan holds a BA in English from the George Washington University.
