PrimeMail, Prime Therapeutics' Mail-Service Pharmacy, Receives URAC Reaccreditation

ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Prime Therapeutics (Prime), a thought leader in pharmacy benefit management, announced today that its mail-service pharmacy, PrimeMail®, has received full accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry. Prime received its first mail-service pharmacy accreditation on January 1, 2009, and now remains accredited through January 1, 2016.

"The URAC Accreditation for our mail-service pharmacy provides a seal of approval that assures our clients and members that we are committed to providing the highest level of member safety, clinical quality and operational excellence," said Duane Barnes, senior vice president of consumer delivery, Prime Therapeutics.

URAC offers the only third-party, voluntary accreditation program of this scope for pharmacy benefit management and prescription services industry. All standards are developed with input from URAC's Pharmacy Advisory Committee, which includes a wide range of stakeholders: employers, consumers, pharmacy consultants, health plans, retail pharmacy, pharmacy benefit management organizations, pharmacy professional organizations, labor and large public purchasing groups.

URAC's mail-service pharmacy standards address a range of industry practices including: organizational quality, customer service, communications, disclosure, mail drug management and pharmacy operations.

"We applaud Prime Therapeutics on achieving URAC Mail Service Pharmacy Accreditation," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and CEO. "In today's health care market, URAC accreditation provides a mark of distinction for organizations to demonstrate their commitment to quality health care."

To achieve Mail-Service Pharmacy Accreditation, Prime participated in a rigorous application and on-site evaluation process, culminating with a comprehensive summary, prepared by an accreditation review team, being presented to the URAC's Accreditation Committee.

Prime is also accredited in Pharmacy Benefit Management, having received accreditation by URAC in 2007.
