SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Jan. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dovetail Genomics, the industry leader in the use of proximity ligation and advanced informatics for genomic solutions, today expanded its commitment to the research world to make best-in-class genome assemblies available to all. The new Dovetail Hi-C Kit, with cloud-based HiRise™ software for genome assembly, delivers the capabilities of the company’s service offering in kit format for researchers who prefer a hands-on experience in their own labs. Additionally, Dovetail announced it has lowered its scaffolding service pricing, a result of efficiencies achieved by building and delivering hundreds of assemblies over the last few years.

The kit and software are available immediately and will be described in a Dovetail-hosted workshop on Tuesday, January 16 at the Plant & Animal Genome conference (PAG XXVI) in San Diego.

“We’ve used Dovetail’s Hi-C service and HiRise software to assemble a wide range of animal and plant genomes into chromosomes, giving us a much richer perspective on the evolution of polyploid and other complex genomes. With the new Dovetail Hi-C kit and cloud-based HiRise, it will be easy to scale these studies so that every genome can--finally--be analyzed at the chromosome scale,” said Dr. Daniel Rokhsar, Professor of Genetics, Genomics and Development at UC Berkeley; Eukaryote Super Program Head at the Joint Genome Institute; Visiting Professor of Molecular Genetics at the Okinawa Institute for Science and Technology; and, Dovetail Genomics Scientific Advisory Board Member.

Added Dovetail’s CEO, Todd Dickinson, “Since launching our service, we have produced hundreds of chromosome-scale, reference-quality assemblies for our customers. But we have long been committed to making it possible for anyone to access the quality of a Dovetail assembly, and today’s Hi-C kit and HiRise software launch represents a significant and gratifying milestone for our company. Leveraging our services experience, our team has created a robust, turn-key kit and software solution that brings industry-best genome assembly directly into researchers’ own hands and makes it easier to conduct large-scale studies across a multitude of applications. Researchers now have the choice to bring the genome assembly process in-house and incorporate it into their own workflows, or they can continue to use our simple, streamlined services.”
