URAC Hires Vice President Of Government Relations And Standards

WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- URAC announced today the hiring of John P. DuMoulin as vice president of Government Relations and Standards. In this newly created role, Mr. DuMoulin, a recognized leader in health association management, will strengthen URAC’s regulatory and government affairs programs and continue to develop and implement the next generation of URAC accreditation standards.

Mr. DuMoulin began work at URAC on Sept. 20, 2004. Among other responsibilities, he will oversee URAC’s federal and state government relations activities, coordinate URAC’s public policy positions and oversee the standards development process. Under his leadership, URAC will further establish a cohesive government relations strategy, pursue an aggressive program to revise URAC’s existing accreditation standards, and develop new standards that keep pace with the rapid changes in the health care system.

Prior to joining URAC, Mr. DuMoulin served as a lobbyist for the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Society of Internal Medicine. As the Director of Practice Advocacy for ACP, Mr. DuMoulin managed both the Regulatory and Insurer Affairs Department and the Practice Management Center. Among other duties, he developed Congressional testimony and legislative strategies related to health information technology and regulatory relief for physicians and assisted state societies and physician members on effectively working with managed care, Medicare, private insurers and other third party payers. During his tenure with ACP, Mr. DuMoulin served as the immediate Past Chair of the URAC Accreditation Committee and is a former member of the URAC Standards Committee.
