Phoenix and HIMSS have co-sponsored the periodic national survey for the past six years to monitor healthcare organizations’ response to and compliance with sweeping Federal privacy, security and electronic transactions regulations specified under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Virtually all healthcare providers, payers and clearinghouses are subject to HIPAA regulations and severe penalties for non- compliance. Results of this Summer 2005 survey will be particularly significant, as deadlines for compliance with all regulations have now passed.
The US Healthcare Industry HIPAA Compliance Surveys are widely recognized as the most comprehensive, consistent national measures available. Findings of past surveys have been submitted, by their request, to various Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) leaders, members of the House Ways and Means Committee, and other Capitol Hill leaders -- and were cited in the final HIPAA Security Rule.
