Jean Lynn, Nationally Known Leader In Oncology Nursing Care, Tapped To Lead Oncology Unit For MMG’s Smart Trials Service

ROCKVILLE, Md., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Matthews Media Group, Inc. (MMG) announced today that Jean Lynn, MPH, RN, OCN, has joined its Smart Trials(SM) group as Vice President of the Oncology Health Practices team. The Oncology team is one of five health practice areas at MMG that focuses on recruitment and retention of patients for clinical trials.

Ms. Lynn brings an unusual level of expertise to MMG’s oncology trial recruitment efforts. She most recently was the Program Director for the Breast Care Center and Mobile Mammography Operations of the Department of Surgery at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and was an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor. She also is the President and Co-Founder of the Breast Cancer Care Foundation, Inc, in Virginia. Ms. Lynn serves on the Board of the Oncology Nursing Society’s Steering Council as well as the Board of the D.C. Division of the American Cancer Society.

“We are delighted to have Jean Lynn as the newest member of our Smart Trials team,” said Molly Matthews, MMG President. “She has served in the trenches of oncology care for 30 years, and knows how to connect with cancer patients seeking the best possible care and treatment. That will be invaluable experience as we devote more resources to our oncology recruitment practice.”

Ms. Lynn was hired to manage MMG’s contribution to the growing number of oncology trials being seen in the U.S. and worldwide. She replaces Lisa Marquette-Porat, who was promoted to Vice President and manager of all health practice areas. Under the leadership of Ms. Marquette-Porat, MMG’s recruitment practice for cancer trials more than tripled, and now represents 25% of MMG’s recruitment business.

“I am very happy to be part of one of the nation’s leading patient recruitment firms, with a robust pipeline in oncology drug development,” Ms. Lynn said. “MMG’s Smart Trials group uses methodologies that are perfect for my background; they are research-based, results-oriented, and patient- focused,” she added.

MMG has 17 years experience leading patient recruitment and retention campaigns for pharmaceutical and government clients. Ms. Lynn will join a corporate structure that has built teams with areas of therapeutic expertise, including oncology, endocrinology/cardiovascular system, infectious diseases, mental health/neurology and general medicine. She will be part of a team that will strengthen and grow company expertise in specific clinical areas for every phase of recruitment from Phase I to IV in U.S. and global clinical trials.

Molly Matthews founded MMG in 1987 with a single goal: to find innovative and effective ways to communicate critical health messages to the public at large. The company grew through its support of Government health communications needs, facilitated by its close proximity to the National Institutes of Health and downtown Washington, D.C. More than a decade ago, the company took its lessons learned from supporting Government clinical trials and applied them to the specialized needs of pharmaceutical trials, and now serves as a strategic partner to many major pharmaceutical firms. MMG has evolved into a full-service health communications firm with more than 170 employees serving corporate and Government clients.

MMG is a part of Omnicom Group, Inc. (http://www.omnicomgroup.com/). Omnicom is a leading global marketing and corporate communications company.
