Purolite Introduces High-Resolution Agarose Based Chromatography Resins For Protein Purification

Bala Cynwyd, Pa., October 20, 2014 – Purolite Life Sciences introduces a new line of agarose-based chromatography resins optimized for biomolecule purification. The new dextran-free products are marketed under the Praesto™ brand and include anion exchangers, cation exchanges and plain base matrices used for purification of recombinant proteins (including mAbs) and plasma fractionation. This product line expands the Life Sciences family of chromatography resins to cover the protein purification market.

The initial three Praesto™ products are each available in 45µm, 65µm and 90 µm particle sizes for use in downstream applications, from large-scale capture to final polishing. Strong anion exchange, strong cation exchange and plain agarose media are available in 25 ml, 100ml and 500 ml bottles, pre-packed columns and bulk media. Production-scale quantities will be available in 2015. Praesto™ agarose resins have undergone critical application and performance testing and are manufactured in Purolite’s UK facilities.

“Our customers indicated a need for quality agarose products and Purolite is able to respond with superior, high-performance Praesto™ agarose resins,” notes Don Brodie, Executive Vice President of Purolite Corporation. “We took our decades of experience in product development and large-scale manufacturing, hired the world’s leading authorities in agarose and created Praesto™ bioseparation resins to meet the most stringent demands for biotechnological research and applications.”
