Lantronix' new initiatives include the appointment of a new VP marketing, along with other marketing and sales professionals in the US, Europe and Asia; a comprehensive global rebranding effort; exhibition and speaking slots at industry trade shows and events; the launch of a new solutions-focused, vertically-oriented website; and a four-part white paper series for medical device connectivity, titled "Medical Device Networking for Smarter Healthcare." Highlights of upcoming initiatives include:
* Marketing -- Anthony Shimkin, our new VP of Marketing is a 17-year veteran of the medical market, most recently having been vice president of marketing for medical diagnostics manufacturer Quidel. Previously, Anthony served as vice president of marketing and innovation for the multi-billion dollar Fortune 17 company Cardinal Health. He has also held key marketing roles at Alaris Medical Systems and Neoforma. Shimkin holds an MS in executive leadership from the University of San Diego, an MBA in marketing and finance, an MA in medical sciences and a BA in psychology from Boston University.
* Product Management -- Paul Pishal, who joined Lantronix in 2009 as VP of Marketing, has been named VP of Product Management. In this role, Pishal is tasked with driving the strategy, product roadmap, development, and lifecycle management of all Lantronix products and services worldwide. He will also focus on developing strategic partnerships with medical industry software providers to develop custom products for the medical connectivity market. Prior to Lantronix, Pishal was the senior manager of business development for Capgemini, where he defined and implemented new service offerings within the cable TV and wireless service provider markets. He holds a Master of Science degree in computer and information science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and has completed graduate studies in electrical engineering at Columbia University.
* Sales -- Lantronix has appointed regional medical industry sales directors for the Northeast and Midwest US. Colin Murphy (Northeast) brings an MBA and 25 years' medical sales and management experience to Lantronix. He was formerly vice president of sales and marketing for Visage Imaging and has held vice president and director of sales positions with Terarecon, Optronics, Imagitex, and Atex (a division of Kodak). Jamie Messina (Midwest) also holds an MBA and has 13 years' sales experience, most recently holding the position of director of sales and marketing for Cardiocom. Prior to that role, Messina held director and regional management positions with Roche Diagnostics, Salix Pharmaceuticals and UCB Pharma.
* Medical White Paper Series -- Lantronix will launch a four-part series in late July, with a focus on real world integration of medical devices and healthcare IT / networking for the new era of patient care.
* Trade Shows and Events -- Lantronix will further its thought leadership position through speaking engagements, media presentations and exhibits at events including the Medical Device Connectivity Conference, MUSE 2011, HIMSS, Hospex Japan and Embedded World. * Communications and Investor Relations -- In July, Lantronix retained investor relations firm MKR Group to increase investor awareness, enhance shareholder value and boost visibility within the financial community.
* Associations and Partnerships -- Lantronix has joined the Qualcomm Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance, as well as a variety of associations nationwide including MUSE (The Medical User's Software Exchange).
* Board of Directors -- In May 2010, Lantronix announced the appointment of medical industry veteran Marcelo G. Lima as independent member of its Board of Directors. Lima is currently the president and chief executive officer of ImThera Medical, Inc., a privately-funded, early-stage medical device company. He has more than 25 years' experience in the medical industry, holding positions in engineering, marketing, business development and executive management.
