MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- iMedica, the physicians’ choice for electronic medical records (EMR), today announced the appointment of Michael Nissenbaum as CEO and Neil Simon as COO. This move comes at a key time for iMedica as the company looks to expand market share of their award-winning PhysicianSuite product.
“iMedica has seen significant growth over the past year,” said Dennis Covington, chairman of the board at iMedica. “By bringing Michael and Neil onboard we now have the right team to take iMedica to the next level.”
Michael Nissenbaum is well known in the medical systems industry as the man behind the wheel of Millbrook Corporation (healthcare physician office products), taking the company from relative obscurity to an industry leading position culminating in the acquisition by GE Medical Systems in 2002.
While at Millbrook, Nissenbaum oversaw five years of compounded revenue growth in excess of 80%, growing the company from 24 employees to more than 140 employees while supporting over 10,000 physicians in 65 specialties and sub-specialties, across the country. Prior to Millbrook, he was associated with various technology-based companies in Texas and Illinois. He received his MBA from the University of Chicago, and is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst.
“EMR is a rapidly growing market that’s critical to successful clinic operation. iMedica has demonstrated clear technology leadership over other players in the EMR space and I’m excited about helping to guide the company to a broader role in the market. I believe this is the right company, at the right time, in the right market,” said Nissenbaum.
Neil Simon joins the iMedica team as COO, bringing a strong combination of operational and technology leadership to the company. A fellow Millbrook/GE Medical Systems compatriot of Nissenbaum, Simon most recently served as GE’s general manager in charge of GE Healthcare Physician Office products. Prior to GE, Simon was VP of Operations and CTO at Millbrook, where his vision led the product development group. He also oversaw technical support, training and information technology.
A 15-year software veteran, Simon participated in the design and development of Active-X for Healthcare released by Microsoft Healthcare Users Group. He sits on the MS-HUG HIMSS advisory board.
“With the drive for cost control and the new mandates surrounding HIPAA regulations, iMedica has an ideal solution,” said Simon. “I’m looking forward to helping iMedica expand on their track record of delivering significant improvements to clinic operations.”
These appointments coincide with major technical and market advancements for iMedica, with the company recently announcing enhanced features for its award-winning PhysicianSuite(R) EMR system. The new version, PhysicianSuite 4.3, extends the product’s autonomous architecture to support multi-site clinical users, customizable charge tickets and encounter forms, and in-note dictation and transcription capabilities -- features key to increasing doctor and administrative productivity. These enhancements make it easy for physicians to tailor the product to their own work styles, increase system security and further streamline patient charting and billing.
“iMedica’s PhysicianSuite has proven its superior technology and charting speed,” said Dr. Charles Koo, founder of iMedica. “Michael’s and Neil’s significant experience in bringing new medical technologies into the mainstream will be very important to us as we begin our next phase of growth.”
