NEW YORK, August 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ramp Corporation today announced that its subsidiary HealthRamp, Inc. has released its CareGiver(TM) Long Term Care technology for Skilled Nursing Facilities and Institutional Pharmacies. Ramp Corporation is the parent company of HealthRamp, Inc., which develops and markets the HealthRamp CareGiver(TM) and HealthRamp CarePoint(TM) technology suites, and OnRamp, a state-of-the-art telecommunications center.
CareGiver technology allows the skilled nursing facility staff to securely place orders for prescription drugs, treatments and medical/surgical supplies from a wireless handheld PDA or desktop Internet web browser; to efficiently manage the resident admission process; and to automate the monthly order renewal process. Benefits provided to the skilled nursing facility by CareGiver include significant improvements to resident safety, enhanced administrative efficiency, increased ease of regulatory compliance, and real-time communication between facility nursing staff, attending physicians and consultant pharmacists.
"CareGiver is an excellent product that ensures safety in resident care by virtually eliminating the possibility of misinterpreting of physician orders," stated Jeanne Hall, Director of In-Service Education for the United Odd Fellows and Rebekah Nursing Home. "It does so by eliminating spelling errors and illegible handwriting that can lead to a resident receiving an incorrect dose or the wrong medication. CareGiver ensures that the right medication and correct dose are delivered to the resident at the right time. CareGiver also provides real time documentation including a current, accurate database of resident medications and treatments, as well as resident dietary, rehab and activity information," concluded Hall.
"CareGiver is an innovative healthcare information technology solution that would dramatically enhance safety and improve the quality of care for the over 1.8 million skilled nursing facility residents in the United States," stated Andrew Brown, HealthRamp's CEO and President. "Our CareGiver technology suite will be continually developed to meet the needs of the long term care industry, resulting in perhaps the largest revenue opportunity we have as a company. With the long term care industry second only to hospitals in healthcare, and a sparse array of deployed technologies targeted at this marketplace, we expect our CareGiver revenues to be very significant for many years to come," concluded Brown.
A rich menu of additional CareGiver functionality is scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2005. These product extensions include advanced charting including electronic medication and treatment administration records; integrated barcode scanning and biometric resident identification; laboratory test results reporting; pre-admissions screening; electronic Resident Assessment Instrument capabilities; comprehensive Quality Indicators reporting; and billing management functionality. These new features will enable HealthRamp to provide skilled nursing facilities a comprehensive, end-to-end facility administration and resident care management solution -- from pre-admissions, through order entry and charting, to reporting, quality of care audits and billing.
Ramp Corporation, through its wholly owned HealthRamp subsidiary, develops and markets the HealthRamp CarePoint and HealthRamp CareGiver technology suites. CarePoint enables electronic prescribing, lab orders and results, Internet-based communication, data integration, and transaction processing over a handheld device or browser, at the point-of-care. CareGiver lets long term care facility staff place orders for drugs, treatments and supplies from a wireless handheld PDA or desktop Internet web browser. Ramp's OnRamp division provides a state-of-the-art telecommunications center that enables 24/7 communication between a medical practice and its patients.
