The WBENC certification confirms that Alpha Source is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman, and it puts Alpha Source in front of companies with diversity supplier programs. Alpha Source has been in business for over 25 years, and remains a privately-held company owned by Norine Weber-Carlson.
The Women’s Business Development Center—Chicago Certification Committee, a regional certifying partner of the WBENC, granted Alpha Source the national certification in April 2012. In order to qualify for the certification, a business must be least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women. The meticulous certification process also included an in-depth review of Alpha Source as a business and a site inspection.
Norine Carlson-Weber started Alpha Source in 1986 and remains the sole owner of the company, making the company 100% woman-owned. Alpha Source began as a specialty lamps distributor for the medical market. Today, Alpha Source distributes over 50,000 products to a variety of markets including healthcare and government.
