James S. Benson And James E. Nicholson Join Medical Device Consultants, Inc. Board Of Directors

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Device Consultants, Inc., (MDCI) a leading consulting and contract research organization for the medical device industry, announced today that Mr. James S. Benson and Mr. James E. Nicholson have joined its Board of Directors.

Mr. Benson is the former Executive Vice President, Technology and Regulatory Affairs at the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) (formerly HIMA), the world's largest medical technology trade association. During his nine years at AdvaMed, Mr. Benson was the lead strategist for the association's regulatory agenda. Prior to AdvaMed, he held various positions at the Food and Drug Administration including Acting FDA Commissioner (1990), FDA Deputy Commissioner (1988-1991), Director for the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) (1991-1992) and Deputy Director of CDRH (1977- 1988). Mr. Benson holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of Maryland and an M.S. degree in nuclear engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mr. Nicholson is the Founder and current Chairman of Cortek, Inc. Within the medical device industry, Mr. Nicholson has founded several medical device start-up companies, including Mitek Surgical Products and Innovasive Devices, both of which he led through successful initial public offerings (IPOs). He is the inventor of numerous enabling medical and surgical products, including the Mitek Anchor and Venodyne Intermittent Compression. Mr. Nicholson holds a B.S. degree and M.S. degree in aeronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
