AmerisourceBergen Corporation Accused of Age Discrimination

The Philadelphia Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed an age discrimination complaint against drug distributor AmerisourceBergen Corp., the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

The complaint alleges AmerisourceBergen (NYSE:ABC) of Valley Forge, Pa., did not hire Robert Aellis, 60, for a vacant telecommunications manager position because of his age, and that the position went to someone 20 years younger.

AmerisourceBergen issued a statement saying “we are disappointed that the EEOC has filed a complaint on behalf of an individual who was one of a large number of applicants... AmerisourceBergen is committed to equal employment opportunity, and we actively cultivate a diverse and inclusive environment for our current and potential employees.”
