The Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche said that it had to remain in control of production of the anti-influenza drug Tamiflu, despite fears of a flu pandemic, because production-sharing would take too long. A spokesman for Roche, Alexander Klauser, said that at least three years would be needed for another company to set up production of the drug, which is one of at least two anti-virals that are known to be effective in treating flu.
