SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - June 01, 2011) - Nextrials, Inc. (www.nextrials.com), a leader in clinical research software and services, will participate in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, sponsored by IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) and CDISC (Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium) at the Drug Information Association’s 47th Annual Meeting, DIA 2011, to be held June 19-23 in Chicago. Prism®, Nextrials’ award-winning clinical trial management platform, is one of the clinical research industry’s only electronic data capture (EDC) platforms fully integrated with platforms used for electronic health records (EHR) by the healthcare industry. During the annual meeting’s interactive demonstrations for clinical trials and drug safety, Prism will facilitate live data streaming between multiple EHR vendors and data recipients -- including representatives of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
Nextrials is one of the industry’s earliest proponents of the development and use of interoperable, standards-based health IT solutions. For the last three years, the company has participated in all of the IHE North America Connectathons and the HIMSS Interoperability Showcases held in conjunction with the annual HIMSS conferences. Nextrials is the only CDISC registered solutions provider offering an electronic data capture product that supports the CDISC Healthcare Link Initiative.
“Nextrials continues to be the leader in promoting the development of standards-based interoperability between platforms utilized for clinical trial research and those in use in the healthcare setting,” said James Rogers, CEO and co-founder of Nextrials. “We are pleased to see DIA add an interoperability showcase to its annual meeting where attendees can see first-hand the benefits of integrated EDC/EHR systems.”
DIA 2011 attendees can find the Interoperability Showcase in Chicago’s McCormick Place West on Monday, June 20 from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 21 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, June 22 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Visitors can also see a demonstration of Prism in the Nextrials’ booth (Booth #905) throughout the conference.
About Prism
Nextrials’ award-winning Prism melds sophisticated clinical trial management functionality with EDC in a single, integrated package. By receiving a constant flow of data, Prism enables sponsors and sites to fully utilize real-time integration of disparate information and data sources, such as a hospital’s EHR or patient records, to better provide a continuum of care for patients enrolled in clinical trials.
About the Interoperability Showcase
Held at HIMSS conferences at locations around the globe, the IHE-sponsored HIMSS Interoperability Showcases™ are unique events where health care stakeholders come together to demonstrate the benefits of using standards-based interoperable health IT solutions for effective and secure health data information exchange. DIA is partnering with CDISC and IHE for its first interoperability showcase to promote the update of standards-based solutions to improve the potential for health information exchange.
