Nationally Ranked Hospital Chooses Innovative Digital X-Ray Systems From Carestream Health, Inc.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 28 — Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Boston, Mass., has purchased four CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution suites from Carestream Health, for use in its ambulatory care and outpatient facilities. These advanced digital x-ray systems help enhance patient care, while simultaneously equipping healthcare facilities to improve productivity and reduce equipment expenses. The DRX-Evolution systems employ the company’s highly successful wireless DRX-1 digital radiography detector.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is internationally recognized for its excellence in patient care and its outstanding biomedical research, education and training capabilities. A 793-bed teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, the hospital has been ranked in U.S. News and World Report's Honor Roll of America's best hospitals for 11 consecutive years.

The CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution is an automated digital radiography system that can perform a wide variety of general radiology and trauma x-ray exams. After selecting a patient from the worklist, an auto-positioning feature engages the system to position itself for the examination with the press of a button. The slim DRX-1 detector offers enhanced patient comfort that is especially important for trauma cases. The detector can be removed from the wall stand or table to easily handle cross table and other difficult imaging studies, as well as exams on wheelchair or stretcher patients. Digital images are communicated over a secure wireless network and appear on the system console in seconds.

“The proven flexibility of our DRX-1 detector is a clear advantage in caring for patients, and the system’s easy-to-use, touch-screen interface saves valuable time in urgent care settings where seconds and minutes matter,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health. “In addition, its modular design can be easily expanded to address changes in radiology workflow and number of exams scheduled. Each DRX-Evolution suite can be configured with one, two or three detectors for maximum productivity and efficiency.”

Carestream Health’s wireless, cassette-size detector forms the foundation for a highly productive family of DR solutions, including the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System that can convert analog x-ray rooms to DR technology in less than one day. The company also offers a CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit that enables healthcare providers to upgrade selected mobile x-ray systems to wireless DR technology.
