MCHENRY, Ill., Sept. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Medela, LLC and the Boston Red Sox are proud to announce a partnership in support of breastfeeding moms. Medela is sponsoring a breastfeeding pod for all Red Sox home games as well as special events at Fenway Park.

“We are thrilled to provide this quiet, hygienic space at Fenway Park for breastfeeding moms,” said Melissa Gonzales, Executive Vice President, North America for Medela. “We are committed to helping moms successfully breastfeed their babies for as long as they choose, and we’re excited that our partnership with the Red Sox has made it possible to help moms at Fenway Park.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 30 percent of infants in the United States are still breastfeeding at 12 months, and adequate spaces and equipment are needed for moms to breastfeed or express milk to support their unique breastfeeding goals.i

The Medela-supported pod at Fenway Park has two spacious benches with room for a child or companion, a fold-down table, power outlets, and space for a stroller. The pod is provided in partnership with the Boston Red Sox and through the placement of a Mamava breastfeeding suite.

“We want everyone to enjoy their experience at Fenway Park, and we’re proud to offer this designated private space for breastfeeding moms,” said Red Sox Executive Vice President, Partnerships, Troup Parkinson. “One of our goals is to ensure Fenway Park is inclusive for all of our fans, and this is one way we can make sure moms don’t feel like breastfeeding is an obstacle to attending and enjoying a game.”

The Medela-supported pod is located at Fenway Park in the Kids’ Concourse under the grandstand, near Sections 1-2. Families interested in using the pod can go to the Kid Nation Clubhouse for access to the suite.
