To ensure a successful bone marrow transplant it’s not enough to get bone marrow from a matched donor. A new study says you also need to be sure that both donor and recipient share a specific gene alteration.The alteration, or allele, in question is on the interleukin-10 (IL10) gene, investigators report in the Dec. 4 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
