BSD Medical Increases Awareness of Hyperthermia at American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Meeting

ASTRO is the largest radiation oncology society in the world, and the annual conference is the premier worldwide scientific meeting in radiation oncology. The theme of the 2011 meeting was “Patient-focused, High-quality, Multidisciplinary Care.” Hyperthermia has been shown to be the most potent radiosensitizing agent known to date, and has demonstrated the ability to increase the effectiveness of radiation and many chemotherapeutic agents for certain tumors. Thus, this year’s theme provided added visibility to hyperthermia.
