CDI has been a Merge eMed RIS/PACS customer since 2003. The expanded partnership with CDI is a direct result of introducing Merge eMed customers to the leading edge clinical application software technologies made available through the recent merger of Merge and Cedara Software. Cedara Software has developed a number of advanced visualization and clinical application software products for various clinical specialties, including orthopedics, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, oncology, obstetrics and more.

PET/CT imaging has become popular in medical imaging environments because of its ability to concurrently visualize anatomical and physiological characteristics of the human body. In oncology, for example, PET/CT imaging is used to view tumour activity in conjunction with anatomical references, allowing physicians to better understand the effects of cancer treatment(s). Combined PET/CT imaging is also useful in small organ diagnosis, where tumor boundaries can be difficult to discern.
