LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - December 13, 2010) - Warnex Inc. (TSX: WNX) announced today that its Warnex PRO-DNA Services division, located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, has received accreditation from the American Society of Crime Lab Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board - International® (ASCLD/LAB-International®) for forensic science testing. Warnex was specifically accredited in the categories of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA testing, relationship testing and body fluid identification.
“We are very proud to be the first private laboratory in Canada to receive ASCLD/LAB accreditation for forensic testing, demonstrating once again the quality of our services,” said Mark Busgang, President and CEO of Warnex. “This prestigious accreditation from a U.S.-based organization will allow us to pursue opportunities in the United States and expand our forensic testing market.”
Warnex PRO-DNA services is the only private laboratory in Canada providing STR, Y-STR, miniSTR, and mitochondrial DNA testing services for forensic and parentage testing purposes. Mitochondrial DNA testing is crucial in cases where nuclear DNA testing is not possible such as for shed hairs at crime scenes, identification of missing persons (skeletal remains with degraded DNA), and when there is insufficient nuclear DNA.
Warnex PRO-DNA Services has state-of-the-art facilities and is also accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a DNA testing laboratory for forensics, parentage and other familial relationships under ISO 17025/CAN-P-4E and CAN-P-1578.
Warnex offers its forensic services to law enforcement, lawyers, investigators and private clients worldwide. For more information on Warnex’s forensic and DNA identification services, visit www.prodna.ca.
