MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Omnicell, Inc. , a leading provider of patient safety solutions preferred by nurses, announced today the appointment of Peter Fisher, 47, as vice president of engineering.

Prior to joining Omnicell, Fisher served as vice president of engineering for the broadcast division of Pinnacle Systems in Mountain View where he managed a staff of up to 115 individuals. He was responsible for driving technology and direction of next-generation video graphics and server platforms. During his six years at Pinnacle, he also managed a research and development project team.
From 1984 to 1999, he was a software design engineer and research and development project manager on a wide range of HP products, including microwave and communications test and measurement instruments as well as video related products for the broadcast space.
Fisher completed graduate courses in electrical engineering at the University of Iowa on a Fulbright Scholarship from the U.S. and German governments and earned equivalent B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the College of Electrical Engineering (Fachhochschule der DBP) in Dieburg, Germany.
