Mettler-Toledo: Energy Efficient Power Supplies for Electroanalytical Equipment

COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 1, 2009) – METTLER TOLEDO is proud to announce the use of new power supplies for electrochemistry meters that are fully ENERGY STAR® compliant. These new power supplies are lighter, smaller and more efficient—saving energy and money for end-users of METTLER TOLEDO pH, conductivity and ion meters. This introduction of these new power supplies on a world-wide basis illustrates METTLER TOLEDO’s on-going commitment to the global environment and ‘green’ chemistry.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established ENERGY STAR in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce air pollution by giving consumers simple energy-efficient choices. Today, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR is featured on more than 60 product categories, from light bulbs to major appliances to new homes and buildings. More than 15,000 organizations have become ENERGY STAR partners and are committed to improving the energy efficiency of products, homes and businesses.

The use of energy efficient power supplies is just another way METTLER TOLEDO has committed to “green” chemistry. In 2008, METTLER TOLEDO was the first manufacturer to bring to market RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) compliant electrodes. After more than a year of offering these environmentally friendly sensors, METTLER TOLEDO is delighted to report that users of these electrodes find them to be ideal for their applications. The peace of mind that comes from knowing that the latest sensors from METTLER TOLEDO are free of lead, mercury and other hazardous substances prohibited under RoHS guidelines–making them easier to dispose of at the end of their life cycle, is yet another benefit.
