CHICAGO, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Medtronic Inc (MDT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Thursday said U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley has raised questions about payments the medical device maker made to spine surgeons. The latest inquiry comes on the back of a $40 million payment Medtronic made to the U.S. government last year to settle allegations the company made improper payments to spine surgeons using Medtronic devices. The company settled in July 2006 but denied wrongdoing.
