WEST BOYLSTON, Mass., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- LXU Healthcare, Inc. announced today that they have been appointed as Sicel Technologies(R), Inc.'s exclusive sales and marketing partner in select US markets for DVS(R), the first Implantable Radiation Sensor for use in treating breast and prostate cancer.
“We are delighted to have been chosen by the management team of Sicel Technologies partnering with them to introduce this unique technology. Specifically we will provide front line sales support, procurement assistance and address questions specific to reimbursement,” stated Joe Potenza, President and CEO, LXU Healthcare. He added, “Our Medical Specialists are highly trained and certified to represent manufacturers’ innovative and technically superior products and are recognized as one of the leading specialty medical sales organization in the country. We are extremely excited about the addition of Sicel Technologies to our specialty product portfolio and we are committed to continuing to deliver quality solutions that assist in improving patient care.”
DVS(R) is the first permanently implantable, wireless, telemetric, radiation sensor for human use to be commercially available in the United States. Using proprietary telemetric technology, Sicel’s miniature DVS(R) sensor (20mm x 2mm) provides the unique capability not only to provide target localization during a patient’s treatment cycle but also to measure the actual dose of radiation delivered the tumor site and surrounding normal tissue. Deviations in dose received by the tumor, or accidentally administered to normal tissue, can have a serious impact on long term survival rates and quality of life for the more than 650,000 U.S. patients treated annually with radiation therapy.
“LXU Medical’s track record of introducing specialty medical products with a strong emphasis on clinician specific, innovative product technology throughout the healthcare continuum made them an obvious choice as a partner,” said Michael D. Riddle, President/CEO, Sicel Technologies. “We believe that the combination of Sicel Technologies marketing, radiation oncology and medical physics expertise with LXU Healthcare’s highly trained, professional sales organization will facilitate market penetration and quickly establish Sicel as a market leader in dose guided radiation therapy.”
