IDM Pharma, Inc. Appoints Edward E. Penhoet, Ph.D to Board of Directors

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IDM Pharma announced today that Edward E. Penhoet, Ph.D. has joined the board of directors. Dr. Penhoet is currently Director of several venture capital funds at Alta Partners. He is President of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Vice Chairman of the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Penhoet was a director and co-founder of Chiron Corporation, a leading biotechnology company, where he was President and CEO from 1981 to 1998. From 1998 to 2002, Dr. Penhoet was Dean of the School of Public Health and Professor of Public Health and of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Penhoet was a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of California, Berkeley from 1971-1981. He received an A.B. in Biology from the Stanford University, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Washington and did post-doctoral work at the University of California, San Diego.
