A former executive at a contract research organization claims he was wrongfully fired last year after complaining about a computer system that was used to track the sexual orientation, religion and political views of potential employees. Joseph Brennan, who worked as chief information officer at Research Pharmaceutical Services from June 2010 through January 2011, maintains that, after he complained about the system, the CRO told him the tracking was used to “place employees in positions in which they would be most compatible,” according to the lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in Philadelphia. However, he continued to insist that management should end the tracking, which was uncovered during an audit of privacy practices that was being conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Instead, he was told not to divulge the practice and was then removed from his role in the “due diligence” that was being undertaken by a potential buyer, according to the lawsuit.
