SAN FRANCISCO & SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--California Life Sciences Association (CLSA), the state’s premier public policy and business solutions organization representing the California life sciences sector, today announced that Jayne McNicol has been appointed to the position of chief financial officer (CFO). Reporting directly to CLSA President & CEO Sara Radcliffe, the position was created to enhance and optimize the association’s financial operations.

As CFO, McNicol is responsible for directing the financial and compliance functions of both the California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) and its non-profit partner, the California Life Sciences Institute (CLSI). This includes leading the accounting functions, financial planning and recordkeeping, managing financial risks, serving as the liaison to all departments and outside vendors on financial matters, and financial reporting to the CEO and the Board. McNicol provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization and directly advises the CEO on strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.
McNicol is a senior executive with 25 years of experience in delivering exceptional client service to Bay Area life sciences corporations. Prior to joining CLSA, McNicol most recently served as Partner, Assurance Services at Ernst & Young LLP for 15 years. Prior to serving as Partner, she served in a variety of other positions of increasing responsibility in Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance Services. McNicol is a Certified Public Accountant and received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Leeds.
With this new CFO appointment, as well as the recent advocacy team expansion, the organization’s full-time staff spanning their five offices in San Diego, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Washington and the Bay Area is now over 30, including nine new hires in 2017 alone.
