RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, July 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- One of Brazil’s leading distributors of pharmaceutical products, Profarma Distribuidora de Produtos Farmaceuticos S.A. (“Profarma” or the “Company”), has just announced its results for the second quarter of 2007 (2Q07). Profarma’s financial statements are prepared in accordance with Brazilian Corporate Legislation, with the financial and operational information being prepared on consolidated bases in accordance with Brazilian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (BR GAAP) and compared with the same period of 2006 (2Q06).
Profarma’s non financial information has not been revised by the external auditors.
Highlights for the Period: -- Profarma acquired for R$ 13.1 million the operational assets of Dimper Ltda, in Rio Grande do Sul, which reached R$ 132 millions in gross sales in 2006. This state in Brazil is the fourth largest market for pharmaceutical products, with R$ 1.5 billion in sales last year. -- The Ceara Branch, opened on May 2, reached R$ 5.3 million in gross revenues in just two months of operations, achieved a market share of 5.9% in June. -- Overall, the Company’s Gross Revenues hit the mark of R$ 609.7 million, representing growth of 29.2% in comparison with 2Q06. -- Net Income were R$ 8.3 million in 2Q07, which represented growth of no less than 134.5% in comparison with 2Q06. -- Adjusted EBITDA was R$ 19.7 million, up 16.8% in relation to the R$ 16.8 million posted in 2Q06, representing a EBITDA margin of 3.7%.
