Diffinity Genomics has developed technology that can be used to remove impurities from a wide range of nucleic acid samples based on different molecular properties, such as structure (e.g., single vs. double-stranded DNA) or size (e.g., short vs. long DNA sequences). The company’s current product line, the Diffinity RapidTip for PCR Purification, decreases the time of PCR purification to approximately one minute, using just a standard pipettor and one Diffinity RapidTip pipette tip, for use in downstream applications such as Sanger sequencing, SNP analysis, and microarray printing. No additional reagents, equipment, or consumables are needed and waste is limited to just the single, “functionalized” pipette tip. The RapidTip appreciably reduces the time and effort by laboratory personnel to purify samples enabling them to spend more time on higher value-added activities, such as analysis of results. The technology is also easily adaptable for use with virtually any manual, bench top, or automated laboratory fluid handling system.
