Cleveland Clinic Health System Hospitals Choose VoiCert To Automate Managed Care Transactions

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. and CLEVELAND, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the largest health systems in the Midwest has chosen a voice technology solution to save the organization time, money, and a few headaches.

Eight hospitals in the Cleveland Clinic Health System as well as the affiliated Ashtabula County Medical Center have licensed use of the VoiCert system. This system uses voice technology to automate the daily task of securing hundreds of precertifications, authorizations, and verifications of benefits required for managed care patients.

The VoiCert system provides improved accuracy of communications with managed care organizations, as each transaction is archived electronically. Increased efficiency is another benefit of the system, as time required to initiate each transaction will be reduced to as little as two to three minutes.

Rather than dialing a payer's call center to secure approvals needed for medical procedures, tests, and therapies under managed care, Cleveland Clinic Health System personnel speak patient information into the hospital's VoiCert server using their telephone as the input device. Once the voice input is complete, the server will contact the designated payer's call center and obtain the transaction information. VoiCert then notifies the proper nurse or admission staffer at the Cleveland Clinic Health System hospital that insurance company authorization has been secured. Using VoiCert Tracker software, resident on designated hospital's PCs, nurses and accounts receivable staff can search and retrieve records for use in both denials management and revenue collection.

The eight hospitals in this agreement are: Euclid Hospital, Fairview Hospital, Hillcrest Hospital, Huron Hospital, Lakewood Hospital, Lutheran Hospital, South Pointe Hospital, and Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Founded in 1991, The White Stone Group, Inc. developed VoiCert in 1998 in response to demands from customers for a telephonic software solution to improve the accuracy and efficiency of completing authorization transactions between healthcare providers and managed care payers. The company has since deployed sales coverage throughout the United States. VoiCert is now licensed for use in more than 220 hospitals, interfacing with about 90 MCOs representing hundreds of plans. Clients include national systems such as HCA and Tenet, as well as large regional systems such as Cleveland Clinic, Methodist Health Choice of Memphis, and Memorial Hermann of Houston. http://www.voicert.com/ .
