WHIPPANY, N.J. and AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to help veterans excel in civilian life, Bayer and VETTED today unveiled a new partnership in which Bayer will serve as title sponsor of VETTED's inaugural Veteran Accelerated Management Program (VAMP) at the University of Texas and Texas A&M University.

The intensive, eight-week program, which is specifically designed for experienced military leaders provides a rigorous business curriculum to equip veterans with marketable skills for employment in the private sector. Participants will learn graduate-level concepts in business operations, strategy, commercialization, innovation and entrepreneurship. Case studies, presentations, simulations, performance assessments and guest speakers ensure that veterans are well prepared for the challenges awaiting them in the corporate world.

"Bayer has long been a pioneer in life sciences, and we are excited about Bayer's increased focus on veterans' issues," said Robert A. White, CEO of VETTED. "We are pleased to have Bayer as a partner in our combined efforts of restructuring the military transition process."

The program at the University of Texas and Texas A&M University begins next month. In addition to developing the business acumen they will need in the private sector, the veterans also learn world-class career services such as resume development, mock interviews and networking techniques.

"We are extremely proud to partner with VETTED on this exciting new initiative that helps veterans gain the confidence they need to thrive in the business world," said Raymond F. Kerins, Jr., Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Bayer. "These men and women have proudly served their country, and it is now our collective responsibility to help them take the leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills they learned on the battlefield and translate it to the private sector."

Kerins serves as executive sponsor of the Bayer Resource for Armed Forces Veteran/Family and Friends (BRAVE), the company's employee resource group dedicated to providing resources to new and existing veteran employees, their family members and supporters and allies. BRAVE offers solutions to the many issues facing Bayer colleagues who are veterans or members of families who are veterans.

"Hiring veterans is not only good business; it's the right thing to do," Kerins said. "Partnering with VETTED furthers our mission of advocating on behalf of veterans both inside and outside our company."

Expansion plans for the Veteran Accelerated Management Program are well underway. The University of Washington's Foster School of Business announced recently that it will provide it's first program in June. In addition, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and the University of Washington-Tacoma Milgard's School of Business are working on program dates for the Fall of 2018.
