Dr. Juan Parodi of Argentina is a member of the Pioneers in Performance nominating academyand one of the first physicians to ever receive the honor of Pioneer in Performance, in 2009. “To have recognition is a big reward. When the recognition comes from qualified colleagues it represents a big deal in your life as a physician and human being. The idea is to show young colleagues that a good performance is possible and persistence and hard work gives you the chance to use your creativity on new achievements,” said Parodi.

“The vascular community in Latin America has greatly influenced endovascular and vascular therapy, beginning with one of the original pioneers of endovascular aortic repair, Argentina’s Dr. Parodi, whose achievement brought the groundbreaking treatment to patients 20 years ago,” said Ryan Takeuchi, Gore Aortic Business Leader. “We are thrilled to introduce our Pioneers in Performance program to this deserving group of physicians dedicated to driving medical innovation and improving clinical and patient outcomes across Mexico and South and Central America. We congratulate our winners and look forward to honoring this important community in future programs.”

The collaboration between Gore and physician pioneers has resulted in the development of minimally invasive treatment options for safely and effectively managing patients with aneurysms including the Conformable GORE® TAG® Thoracic Endoprosthesis and the GORE® EXCLUDER® AAA Endoprosthesis. These important partnerships have also yielded first-in-class products such as the GORE® VIABAHN® Endoprosthesis with CARMEDA® Bioactive Surface, which is used to treat patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD), and the GORE® PROPATEN® Vascular Graft for peripheral use, including lower-limb bypass and dialysis access surgery.
