Via Surgical To Exhibit At The 1st World Conference On Abdominal Wall Hernia Surgery In Milan, Italy

AMIRIM, Israel, April 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Via Surgical Ltd., a leading developer of a deployable suture mesh fixation system for hernia repair, announced today it will introduce its lead product, FasTouch™, at the 1st World Conference on Abdominal Wall Hernia Surgery in Milan, Italy, from April 25 to 29, 2015.

The Conference will bring together thousands of hernia surgeons and experts from all over the world. Via Surgical will present FasTouch, its cartridge-based, reloadable system that provides strong and consistent suture fixation that is easily and rapidly deployed.

“Instead of grabbing tissue by tacking it or hooking it, FasTouch produces a loop and forms a suture that locks immediately, so there is a very reliable and strong point of fixation without a lot of bulk,” comments David C. Chen, MD, FACS, and associate professor of Clinical Surgery at the UCLA Medical Center, and member of Via Surgical’s advisory board.

Ofek Levin, the Company’s founder, notes: “We realized that many hernia repairs make use of multiple means for mesh fixation-- anchor/helical hernia tacks or manually applied transfascial sutures -- which led us to develop our FasTouch system. It offers for the first time a potential for comprehensive fixation solution for hernia repair.”

“FasTouch allows us to use a tacking device to implant sutures and eliminate transfascial sutures to avoid migration of the mesh, which may prevent the post-operative or chronic pain associated with them,” observes Brian P. Jacob, MD, FACS, associate clinical professor of surgery, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City, founder of International Hernia Collaboration, and member of the Company’s advisory board.

We’ve been doing the same thing for the past 15 years, and it is time for disruptive technology. FasTouch will cause a paradigm shift in hernia repair surgery,” adds Dr. Jacob.
