HOUSTON, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Houston-based Tyrell, Inc., creators of Zeno, the innovative medical device used to treat acne, and its manufacturing partner, Kontron Manufacturing Services Sdn Bhd of Penang, Malaysia (Kontron Penang), are proud to announce their recent collaboration and acquisition of United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration as of May 2006 - - a first for any Malaysian-based electronic manufacturing service (EMS) company.
Shortly after Kontron’s historic first, Tyrell’s other EMS provider, Venture Electronics Ltd., successfully registered their Penang-based facility with the FDA as well, giving Tyrell two FDA registered manufacturing facilities in Malaysia.
Since the introduction of Zeno in June of 2005, Tyrell, Inc. has been growing exponentially. Zeno’s overwhelming popularity and recent expansion into national retail outlets such as Bliss, Nordstrom Sephora, and Walgreens drove Tyrell Inc. to outsource manufacturing and produced the partnership with Kontron Penang.
“We are so pleased to work with the first EMS companies in Malaysia to have FDA registration,” said Wally Klemp, president and CEO of Tyrell, Inc. “Our work in conjunction with Kontron and Venture in Penang is a testament to Tyrell’s dedication to maintaining the highest quality standards across the board.”
The first FDA-cleared device of its kind, Zeno offers a quick, safe and effective means of making blemishes disappear. Zeno works by applying one of the most fundamental principles of medicine -- heat therapy to treat infections. It delivers a specific heat dose -- 119 degrees F -- for a specific amount of time -- two-and-a-half minutes -- to kill the bacteria in emerging pimples, and in FDA-reviewed clinical trials, 90 percent of patients saw resolution within 24 hours.
