A tiny box implanted in the buttock could be an unlikely new treatment for thousands of people with heart failure. The device, about the size of a 50p piece, works by stimulating the part of the spinal cord that controls nerves connected to the heart. The box, which sits just beneath the skin at the top of either buttock, is attached to wires that run to the top part of the spine, behind the heart and lungs.
