A company that had its U.S. headquarters in West Chester, Pa., and is now part of Johnson & Johnson has been sued over a death in an unapproved medical product trial, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
“Lois Eskind died on Jan. 13, 2003 when she went into cardiac arrest moments after bone cement made by Synthes and its then-subsidiary Norian was injected into Eskind’s spine,” the Inquirer says.
The families of the two other other patients who died in the trials are already suing the company. Synthes executives were sentenced to prison terms late last year over charges related to the medical trials.
