(Nasdaq:SGYP), a developer of new drugs to treat gastrointestinal disorders and diseases, announced today that, in accordance with applicable rules issued by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, it will delay, for a short period, the filing of its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2012. The Company’s normal process for compilation and review of its financial statements was delayed due to the Company’s accounting personnel not being able to travel to the Company’s headquarters and not being able to access the Company’s accounting records due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
