HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BIOTECHNICA (6 – 8 October 2009) has defied the economic crisis by registering an increase in both the number of exhibitors and the size of the display area. Commenting on this positive trend, Stephan Ph. Kühne, Board Member of Deutsche Messe AG, Hannover, says: “The fact that more exhibitors are participating, plus the increase in the stand area booked, has created a positive mood even before the trade fair kicks off.” A total display area of more than 11,200 square metres will be occupied by 650 exhibitors (2008: 535). Kühne adds: “The display area will be more than 30 percent bigger than in 2008. The new concept introduced for BIOTECHNICA two years ago is paying off and is helping considerably to further consolidate the strong position of Europe’s leading trade show for biotechnology and the life sciences. The event plays an important role, especially in these times of economic turbulence.”
