ROSEVILLE, Minn., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Parker Hughes Founder and President Fatih Uckun filed an appeal today with the Minnesota Court of Appeals. According to Uckun’s lawyer, Stuart Williams of Henson and Efron, the appeal asserts the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice violated Uckun’s due process rights when it suspended his license. The appeal also asserts that the Medical Board violated both the Government Data Practices Act and the Medical Practices Act when it published its suspension order against Uckun.
In addition, today Uckun petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court for accelerated review of the appeal asking the high court to take the case directly and by-pass the Court of Appeals. According to the petition Uckun’s case raises important issues of constitutional law with statewide impact regarding the authority of the Medical Board and the manner in which it regulates and disciplines Minnesota’s 17,000 physicians.
Parker Hughes Cancer Center, founded by Uckun, continues to provide care and treatment to hundreds of cancer patients. Uckun’s patients continue to be treated at the clinic by another oncologist on staff. Since the temporary suspension of his medical license Uckun has focused his efforts on research and administration within the Parker Hughes Cancer Center.
