North Dakota Grants Enova Medical a $2.5 Million Centers of Excellence Grant

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In a unanimous decision on Oct. 29, North Dakota state lawmakers, with the support of Governor John Hoeven and the state’s Centers of Excellence Commission, approved a $2.5 million grant for Enova Medical Technologies, the University of North Dakota (UND) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) to develop and manufacture an innovative thrombectomy device.

The grant will fund the Center of Excellence for Biomedical Device Research, Development and Commercialization, which will focus on Enova’s patented license for a thrombectomy device that removes clots in blood vessels. Enova will team with researchers at the UND School of Engineering, the UND School of Medicine, and North Dakota State University College of Engineering to develop the device.

The company will also work directly with the Minot Area Development Corporation to establish manufacturing operations in Minot. Due to the high market potential for this device, Enova anticipates creating several hundred jobs in the Minot area over the next two to five years.

The mission of the Center of Excellence for Biomedical Device Research, Development and Commercialization is to provide the research, development, and commercialization resources for a range of biomedical devices.
